A recent Tennessean article stated that Sen. Beavers was arguably the most conservative member of the TN Senate. In addition, a nonprofit organization that purports to foster government transparency recently rated Sen. Beavers as Tennessee’s 2nd most conservative senator and 6th most effective senator, based on the number of bills that she sponsored and passed during the last General Assembly.
“I appreciate those who have acknowledged all of the hard work that my staff and I, as well as my House and Senate colleagues, have put into passing principled and conservative legislation here in Tennessee,” said Sen. Beavers.“I also pride myself on helping to thwart the passage of bad laws, including those to create a state income tax and those that attempt to make all law-abiding citizens obtain a doctor’s prescription before buying any amount of cold medicine.”
Over the years, Sen. Beavers has been asked to carry various pieces of legislation on behalf of the governor and other departments, groups, and organizations due to their belief in her ability to draft quality bills and amendments and her willingness to fight for the passage of those bills. During each General Assembly over the last decade, Sen. Beavers has been one of leaders in the State Senate in terms of the number of bills sponsored and passed, as well as one of the staunchest critics of bills that attempt to grow government or those that infringe on constitutional rights and freedoms.
Sen. Beavers has also been extremely successful in working with local leaders throughout Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Macon, Smith and Wilson counties to pass private acts on behalf of cities and counties, and to secure funding for projects throughout District 17.
